The Oslo Beer and Culture Walk blends history, flavour, and local culture — with a full Norwegian dinner at its start. Beginning in one of Oslo's oldest restaurants and ending in Scandinavia's largest craft beer bar, it's a journey through the city's past and present, told through both its stories and its drinks.

Start your evening with a proper sit-down meal, choosing freely from the menu. Whether you prefer fish, meat, or lighter options, you’ll enjoy a generous Norwegian dinner paired with a draught beer. Choose between two of Norway’s most popular brews: Ringnes Pilsner or Frydenlund IPA.

Surrounded by maritime memorabilia, you raise two distinctive Norwegian aquavits (Gilde and Arvesølvet) while learning about Amundsen, Nansen, and the Arctic expeditions that shaped Norway’s past.

With more than 65 beers on tap, this venue is a mecca for beer lovers. Here you’ll enjoy a generous tasting flight of four to five beers, guided not only by your OsloWay tour guide but also by a resident beer expert. Together, they lead you through the origins, styles, and flavour profiles of Norway’s craft brewing scene.

Between each venue, your guide shares stories that bring Oslo to life: the evolution of Aker Brygge from industrial docklands to today’s buzzing waterfront, the city’s journey from Viking Age trading hub to modern Nordic capital, and how Oslo’s food and beer culture has flourished in recent decades.
We require a minimum of 2 participants to operate the tour.
We meet in front of the Nobel Peace Center at City Hall square, a 2-minute walk from Nationaltheatret station. The walk ends inside Røør beer bar in the heart of town, so you can stay for another pint after the guided part.
The tour runs Tue, Wed, Thu and Sat at 17:00. Please arrive about 10 minutes early; the dinner table is booked and we sit down right away.
Call or text us at +47 984 10 156. If you know in advance, email info@osloway.no and we will do our best to hold the dinner seating.
Count on 3.5 to 4 hours: our beer experts like to talk. The walk itself is short and city-centre flat, and most of the evening is spent seated at the dinner, the tavern and the beer bar.
Everything you just read: a full Norwegian dinner with a draught beer, two guided aquavit servings, the 4 to 5 beer tasting flight with a resident beer expert, and your OsloWay guide. No booking fee, nothing extra at checkout. Between 1 October and 31 March tours get 20% off at checkout.
Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before the tour starts, by email or by replying to your confirmation. Later than that, or for no-shows, we cannot refund, since tables, guides and beer experts are booked for you. If we ever cancel for unsafe conditions, you get a full refund or a free reschedule.
Yes, this is an adults-only evening: 18 and over. Norwegian bars are unfortunately restricted to guests over 18, so we cannot bring younger visitors along, even as non-drinkers.
Absolutely, pregnant guests are very welcome. We make sure you get generous non-alcoholic options throughout the evening, from the dinner beer to the aquavit and tasting flight, so you never sit there with an empty glass.
Not at all. The tavern dinner and shared beer flight make friends of strangers quickly. We run with a minimum of two paying guests; if a date cannot go ahead you get a free rebooking or a full refund.
Yes. You choose your own dish from the dinner menu, and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free plates are all covered; just tell the guide when you arrive. The beers and aquavits are yours to sip or skip, non-alcoholic alternatives are always available, and nobody will pressure you.
Maximum 12 guests per guide, so every beer question gets answered. Groups of 13 or more can book the whole evening privately with flexible dates and times.
Oslo evening weather calls for a warm layer in anything but high summer, with shoes fine for short city walks. Otherwise the evening unfolds indoors: restaurant, historic tavern, and the beer bar.
A tip is never required, but it is genuinely welcomed. Guides are always happy when they get one, and a tip or a kind review at the end of a great evening means a lot to them.
